The University of Pittsburgh, commonly referred to as "Pitt", is a state-related research university, founded as the Pittsburgh Academy in 1787. The Pittsburgh campus along with Pitt's regional campuses in Bradford, Greensburg, Johnstown, and Titusville usually have around 25,000 full-time undergraduate students and around 7,500 full-time graduate/doctoral students with a student/faculty ration of 14:1.
